A dark shadow of lingers over The Pink Moon this September 18th as 3 haunting folk bands deliver their own unique take on the genre, from the atmospheric to the ethereal to the terrifying!
CAPTAIN DANN AND THE IDLE HANDS
Combining scintillating traditional folk instrumentation with thunderous drums and bass, The Captain and his ragtag crew are here to deliver tales of woe, wails of horror and the most sinister jigs you've ever seen.
JOSHUA ARNOLD AND THERINE
Joshua Arnold and Therine are a folk duo from the North West consisting of hurdy gurdy player Joshua Arnold and vocalist Therine. They perform thudding Playford and Breton tunes alongside droning, instrumentally eclectic arrangements of songs in the British folk canon showcasing themes of the dark and macabre, and original doomfolk about 1612’s Lancashire witch trials. Led by Therine's soaring vocals and accompanied by dense loops of hurdy gurdy, upright bass, harmonium, drums and DIY instrument drones; “Their brooding, sinister drone-folk definitely casts a spell” – Folking.com. THE HIGHCHURCHES
Bringing to life songs both sardonic and sorrowful with beautiful vocal harmonies and a smorgasbord of strings, The Highchurches are an emotional experience akin to standing on a windswept shore as the sun starts to rise.
