Bjonko Stosic born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark, comes from a family of musicians from the town of Bitola in the republic of Macedonia. He was mentored by roma Macedonian clarinet legend Chapche Naumovski which balkan sound and playing-phrases is typical for the region of South Macedonia. For more than two decades, Bjonko has developed and delivered wildand fierce Balkan Beats on clarinet and saxophone to the Scandinavianmusic scene. Bjonko represents a new style within the Balkan music tradition. He brings Balkan music into dialogue with contemporary music, fired by a driving Macedonian impro style. A new hybrid that draws the audience out of their chairs and onto the dance floor. With this unique sound, Bjonko has played some of the biggest Danish music festivals such as SPOT Festival, Northside and Smukfest, and his live performances explain why he won the award as ”The Danish World Live Name of the Year” at DMA World in 2015. Bjonko participates in different constellations and collaborates with bands and artist from all kind of genres. From avant-garde experiments to fusing hiphop and balkan even as feature with the psych rock bands - to mention a few. Journalist at the music magazine Gaffa, Ivan Rod, wrote: ”Bjonko is Denmark’s (maybe even the Nordics) best-known composer, organizer and musician within the Balkan beat genre and the crossover that connects traditional Balkan music with modern Western rock, pop and hip hop. And in that position, he consolidates with his new album Army of Believers.
