MUZÍÍÍKA, AGREESZIÓ!
The Bohemian Betyars band was formed at the dawn of 2009, when even the cats were sleeping. The singer (Levente Szűcs) and the electric guitarist (Máté Mihályfi), after an evening spent drinking wine and horse-farting pálinka from Pálháza, playing music on the side of a ditch, came up with the idea that they would play music together. They recruited a violinist (Máté Palágyi), a saxophonist (Balázs Czégé), a double bassist (Gábor Fehér), and a drummer (Richárd Botár) from the bastards of Miskolc. With this, the six-member lunatic band was born.
They mixed the folk music/folk dance background of the violinist and the double bass player with the rock and alternative line of the other members, poured it into a big cauldron, and then spiced it with elements of punk, ska, and gypsy/Balkan folk music. After two hours of cooking on medium heat, the inimitable goulash soup was ready, which is notoriously spicy twice.
Choosing the name was a difficult task, as it had to reflect the band's direction. Several names came up (Bukake Party, Manouch Cuci, Super Taranta, Panel Palinka), but we cast our final vote for Bohemian Betyars, thus hinting at the bohemian, artistic lifestyle and Hungarian traditions.
Lately we play a lot of music too, just as cats are very prolific. At our concerts, besides our own songs, we play Gogol Bordello covers, but the classics of Goran Bregović and Kistehén Tánczenekar also sound. The atmosphere is usually guaranteed by the band members who are crazy in their own way, alongside the upbeat, fast-paced songs; the headbangers, along with the band members, regularly wake up in the ditch in the morning. Finally, if we had two wishes from the goldfish, it would be an endless barrel of pálinka and a slightly drunk audience dancing to everything.
