About

The garage, bluesy and neo-psychedelic sound of Caballo was born in winter 2004. A meeting of the minds of Angela Gugliotta and José Henríquez, musicians who explore the nexus between noise and several musical genres, like My bloody Valentine, the Jesus and Mary Chain or Sonic Youth, Caballo deconstructs noise over the words. Henríquez was delighted with the pure and noisy sound of some bands that shared stage at the legendary CBGB's where he played with Culto Oculto at the end of the nineties, and then started to experiment on his own with sounds until he and Angela Gugliotta decided try it together. Then Caballo was born. "Once you dreamed you were free, but when you woke up you were in a fenced field. Caballo. You wanted to run but you couldn’t. You wanted to jump, to get out from there. It's time to neigh and wake up the house's owner on the other side of the fence. It is time for the smell of your stool to reach the nose of your jailer and make turbid his rest." Says the Caballo manifesto, a clear statement of intention that shows the tone of their lyrics and music. The first song they composed “Fuck you” gave the name to Caballo's debut album, released in 2005. With their noisy and sexy sound earned favorable reviews from such quarters as EP3 Magazine. Seeing the good reactions from critics, Henriquez and Gugliotta called to drummer Robert Gibiaqui and invited him to play for live concerts. After several gigs at the Madrid Rock circuit, Caballo was invited to play in one of the most important music festivals: the Sziget Fest, from Budapest. In 2005 autumn, after playing in the Periferias International Music Fest, Caballo began to work in a new album.
