Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (born October 11, 1992) professionally known as Cardi B, is an American rapper from New York City. She is known for her outspoken public persona and explicit lyrical style. Cardi B first gained public attention through social media platforms such as Vine and Instagram, as well as through her role as a cast member on the VH1 reality television series "Love & Hip Hop: New York". She released two mixtapes between 2016 and 2017, which helped establish her presence in the hip-hop industry. Her debut studio album, "Invasion of Privacy", was released in 2018 and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The album achieved significant commercial success and critical recognition, becoming one of the most successful female rap albums of the 21st century. It produced the singles "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It", both of which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. "Bodak Yellow" marked Cardi B as the first female rapper to achieve a solo number-one single on the chart in the 21st century, while "I Like It" made her the first female rapper with multiple number-one songs. The album received the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album, making Cardi B the first solo female artist to win the award in that category. Her 2018 collaboration "Girls Like You" also reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and further contributed to her commercial milestones. Cardi B released her second studio album, "Am I the Drama?", in 2025. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, making her the first female rapper to have her first two studio albums debut atop the chart. It produced multiple charting singles, including the top-ten song "Outside" and the number-one singles "WAP" and "Up".
