There are currently two artists named Casa: 1. An experimental rock band from Vicenza, Italy. 2. A hip-hop artist from Sydney, Australia. 1. Casa are an italian experimental rock band, formed in Vicenza, in 1998. Their compositions show elements of psychedelic rock, blues, minimal music and avant-jazz. The group recorded five albums on the indie label Dischi Obliqui. Despite an ever changing line up, the group essentially consists of its founder and only constant member, Filippo Bordignon (composer, singer and lyricist). Casa constructed their music largely through collective spontaneous composition –– which the band differentiated from improvisation in the jazz sense. The band's influences include Captain Beefheart and John Coltrane as well as Bert Jansch, Frank Zappa and John Cage (expecially for the use of indeterminacy in music). 2. With Australian hip-hop experiencing it’s largest influx in local produce and the bar being set higher with each album release, it’s become harder than ever to claw your way out of the hip-hop abyss; but Western Sydney protégée Andrew Casa refuses to be another artist added to the scrap heap. For too long artists such as Hilltop Hoods, Bliss n Esso and Drapht have had to bare the weight of the Australian hip-hop industry solely on their shoulders, but through determination and a desire to learn, Casa has dreams of lending a helping hand to shoulder the responsibility. Aged 12, Casa found himself following in his older brother’s footsteps but listening to Eminem, but Andrew decided to take it one step further; studying Eminem’s catalogue from back to front, searching for the meaning behind each verse and couldn’t help but be inspired.
