About Francis Huster is a French actor, stage director, filmmaker, and screenwriter, born December 8, 1947 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
A student at the Cours Florent and then the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique, he subsequently became a resident member and then a full shareholder (sociétaire) of the Comédie-Française between 1971 and 1981. He took his first steps in cinema in Georges Franju's La Faute de l'abbé Mouret. It was his meeting with director Claude Lelouch, who would make him one of his favorite actors, that propelled him to the forefront of the scene.
Between the 1980s and 1990s, he alternated between hits (Édith et Marcel, La Femme publique, Le Dîner de cons) and genre films—often commercial failures—with prestigious filmmakers. Among them: Jacques Demy, who directed him in the 1985 musical Parking in which he reprises the role of Orpheus, and female director Nina Companeez.
Francis Huster received the Globe de Cristal for best actor in 2015, the Sept d'or for best actor in a television film in 2003, and was nominated three times for the Molières (1990, 1997, 2015). He won an honorary Molière in 2024.
