Francis Lalanne, born in Bayonne on August 8, 1958, is a singer-songwriter. He is the brother of Jean-Félix Lalanne and René Manzor.
Biography:
Francis Lalanne was born in 1958 in Bayonne, into a cosmopolitan family: Lebanese maternal grandparents, Béarnese and Basque paternal grandparents, a mother born in Uruguay, and a father who was a United Nations civil servant in the Middle East. He spent his childhood in Mont-de-Marsan, then in Uruguay, and finally in Marseille.
Francis took dramatic arts classes at the Marseille conservatory. Under the name "Bibi Folk", the three Lalanne brothers (Francis, René, and Jean-Félix) sang in universities, high schools, and youth centers around Marseille.
After his baccalaureate, he went to Paris to enroll in modern literature at the Sorbonne. He sang in asylums and prisons. At that time, he made a demo that was rejected by record labels. In 1979, he recorded his first album: Rentre chez toi. On France Inter, radio host Jean-Louis Foulquier broadcast the album's songs on his show, and it subsequently became a success with the public and critics [citation needed].
Months after the record's release, he gave his first concerts: the Théâtre du Taur hall in Toulouse saw his first contract, where he triumphed, followed by Marseille, Vénissieux, La Flèche, Printemps de Bourges, and the Théâtre de la Ville. He released his second album, Francis Lalanne, a year after the first. He performed concerts at Bobino and the Pantin hippodrome in 1982, at the Palais des Congrès in Paris in 1984, and at the Palais des Sports in Paris in 1986.
