Harey Izé, a 'child of the drums', is the result of a long journey toward reclaiming their identity. "Almost" Black, "almost" a man, "almost" French—they are a synthesis of origins, values, and aesthetics from opposing worlds. Their connection to music is visceral, a sensation that resonates from the very depths of their being. Through this project, Harey Izé seeks to tap into the core foundations of their musical heritage, weaving them into their daily life. They strive to recover the rhythms, sounds, and intensity of their people’s sacred music, sharing them in their own unique way with an uninitiated audience. As an heir to a culture whose aesthetics are threatened with disappearance, they are committed to passing on this legacy. Raised on traditional possession dance ceremonies, transcendental percussive rhythms, and dark nights filled with music and spirituality, Harey Izé aims to transmit that singular universe: long moments of trance beneath the stars.
