Los Ángeles Negros is a Chilean musical group whose members originate from San Carlos, born in the late 1960s and achieving great international fame. It was founded by Mario Gutiérrez and represented by Nicolás Oliva for over 10 years. They stand out for the voice of their original singer, Óscar Germaín de la Fuente Maureira, a characteristic element of the group, and for the skill of all the musicians who have been part of the band.
History
In late 1967, in San Carlos, Ñuble Province in Chile, musicians Mario Gutiérrez (guitar), Luis Alarcón (electric bass), Federico "Perenque" (second guitar), and Cristian Blazzer (drums) gathered with the goal of forming a musical group. The need to incorporate a keyboardist into their lineup led them to look for a new member. During the rehearsal and practice period, Luis Alarcón, composer of the song "Quisiera no quererte más", passed away, and his place was taken by bassist Sergio Rojas. With this now-consolidated lineup, they decided to participate in a festival in Chillán (capital of the province). Radio "La Discusión" and the record label "INDIS" of businessman Raúl Lara organized the festival, aiming to participate in a radio contest, but there was a problem: they had no vocalist, and right there they met singer Germaín de la Fuente, who was part of another group called "Los Monarcas". After watching him sing live, the band members invited De la Fuente to be a part of them. The result: they won the contest and together recorded their first LP, which would catapult them to fame. It was March 1968. They won with a track from their first 45 RPM single titled "Porque te Quiero", composed by Orlando Salinas.
