Founded in 1992, Oneyed Jack was one of the pioneers of the French fusion scene. The band's name is borrowed from the "One-Eyed Jacks" casino in David Lynch's TV series Twin Peaks. After recording a first self-produced EP, Brain Terrorism, Oneyed Jack joined the Sriracha Sauce management structure in 1994. Following a few internal changes within the band, Oneyed Jack found their trademark style, which allowed them to perform as the opening act for Lofofora and Sepultura, or at the Transmusicales de Rennes. In 1995, Oneyed Jack signed with Yelen Musiques (Sony Music) after winning the Printemps de Bourges contest and being selected for the Fair compilation. The release of Cynique in 1996 brought them to the attention of the general public. Considered a UFO in the French hardcore scene, Oneyed Jack shook up conventions by mixing styles. The lyrics express uncompromising virulence towards society. The song titled Le pouvoir would be taken to court by the General Alliance Against Racism and for the Respect of French and Christian Identity for "insults to a group of people based on their belonging to a nation". Arise (1998) and Prepare to reactivate (2001) are Oneyed Jack's last two albums, both of which explore different musical paths. In 1999, the band recorded a remix of the track Good good, which appeared on a Korn maxi single.
