Portrait
The Blackout are a post-hardcore/screamo band formed in 2003 in South Wales and drawing influences from across the board, they combine heavy crunching guitars, riffs, screams and thunderous drumbeats with beautiful melodies and emotionally driven vocals. The band has played shows in and around the UK with the likes of Funeral for a Friend, Fightstar, Avenged Sevenfold, dredg, 18 Visions, Thrice, Hidden in Plain View, My Chemical Romance, Lostprophets and You Me At Six. They were also nominated at the 2006 Kerrang Awards for Best British Newcomer but lost out to Bring Me The Horizon. The Blackout released their debut mini album entitled 'The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!' on October 23rd 2006 through Fierce Panda Records and the first single taken from it was 'Hard Slammin'. The album 'We Are The Dynamite' was released on October 1st 2007 through Fierce Panda Records. Their new album, "The Best In Town" was released in the UK on May 25th 2009; the tracks 'ShutTheFuckUppercut' and 'Children of the Night' were available for early preview. They are also one of the only 3 unsigned bands to ever sell out the London Astoria, the only other 3 being Enter Shikari, You Me at Six and The Darkness .
