Paula Vesala (born 10 December 1981 in Kärsämäki) is a Finnish singer, musician, songwriter, and actress. She is best known as one of the lead vocalists and lyricists of the band PMMP. In addition to PMMP, Vesala has also composed and written songs for other artists, such as Johanna Kurkela, Jenni Vartiainen, Vesa-Matti Loiri, Antti Tuisku, and Uusi Fantasia. Vesala has also composed music for the theatre. Together with Pekka Kuusisto, Vesala made the album Kiestinki, released in May 2001. In 2011, she was awarded the 13th Naisasialiitto Vuoden Lyyti award for her meritorious work for equality and for depicting women's war experiences in the lyrics of the Kiestinki album. Paula Vesala announced in October 2015 that she would perform in the future under the artist name Vesala. The single "Tequila", composed and written by her, was released in October 2015, and her solo album was released in the spring of 2016. Vesala released her second single, "Tytöt ei soita kitaraa", in March 2016.
