Rare are the European formations that have achieved the renown of Cumbia Ya!. In recent years, Cumbia—the quintessential popular expression of Latin America—has found its place in the programming of French national venues. Thus, the Théâtre de Caen, the Besançon International Festival, and the Opéra de Lyon have all placed their trust in this orchestra, which expertly handles both the popular aspects and the elegant writing of this music, still little-known in an orchestral format.
