The story
22 years of career. Tens of thousands of kilometers on the Tour Bus that has taken them to the four corners of the globe. Born from a teenage dream in the early 2000s, the collective started out playing pass-the-hat gigs and the most underground live music cafés. Very quickly, the chemistry clicked and DANAKIL found themselves playing the biggest venues in France, headlining Zéniths and major European festivals, introducing their roots and socially conscious music to the widest possible audience.
Often reduced to the label of a "reggae band," DANAKIL has managed to break free from conventions to deliver songs that, for some, have become "classics," spanning generations and racking up millions of streams on today's platforms. Yet they have kept their simplicity, naturally building a deep connection with their fans and audience at every concert just as they did in the beginning. This unique atmosphere has greatly contributed to the band's success and allowed them to make their singular mark, stamped with independence and activism. Indeed, DANAKIL has always sought to preserve its freedom, first by self-producing their albums, and later by launching their own label. BACO RECORDS was born in 2011, and now welcomes and supports many other musical talents under the name BACO MUSIC across all aspects of their careers: recording, album production, touring, distribution, digital, promotion...
September 2024 marked a new milestone for DANAKIL with the release of the album "Demain peut-être", featuring several tracks that prove exceptionally powerful both in streaming and live! Musically, the band continues to evolve, pushing their production work even further within their own studio (BACO STUDIO in Bordeaux) to craft their best rhythms and melodies, constantly experimenting in search of a powerful, analog sound. The result is a natural groove that perfectly backs up the sharp lyrics of Balik, the historic singer of the DANAKIL collective. On the live front, the band is rolling through a historic tour with already over 70 dates, smashing attendance records. Notably, they stopped by the Zénith de Paris, which sold out days before the show, delivering an unforgettable performance in front of 6,000 people.
Just a few months after the release of their album "Demain peut-être", DANAKIL returns on April 11, 2025 with "Demain peut-être Reload", a surprise reimagining of their latest opus featuring guest collaborations and bonus tracks! In this revisited version, the original album takes on a new dimension thanks to the participation of many guests close to the band: Jamaicans Clinton Fearon (The Gladiators) and Vanzo, Trinidad and Tobago queen Queen Omega, the charismatic frontman of Groundation Harrison "Professor" Stafford, long-time friends Brahim, Taïro, Yaniss Odua, and Mike and Riké from Sinsémilia, Flavia Coelho, FNX, Toma, the Booboo’zzz All Stars, and their long-time road companion Natty Jean. This reloaded version of the album is also an opportunity to discover fresh takes on the tracks, along with four brand new bonus tracks!
