The story
Dumbo Gets Mad is a psychedelic pop project founded in 2011 by Italian producer, composer and sound designer Luca Bergomi, originally from Emilia. The name is inspired by the Pink Elephants on Parade scene from the film Dumbo (1941), a symbol of the childlike spirit in the face of the absurd.
Initially conceived as a duo alongside Carlotta Menozzi, the project stands out for a free-spirited vision that blends styles, vocals, languages and genres. It debuted in Los Angeles with the album Elephants at the Door, which drew international attention. The single Plumy Tale was included by Pitchfork among the top 50 songs of 2011, while Marmalade Kids was chosen as "Song of the Day" by NPR.
In 2013 he released Quantum Leap and in 2015 put out Thank You Neil, inspired by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and recorded live, solidifying his international acclaim. Following the single Makes You Fly (2019), he issued Things Are Random And Time Is Speeding Up (2021) and toured North America and Mexico. That same year he collaborated with Marracash on the album Noi, Loro, Gli Altri.
With over 100 concerts across Europe, America and Asia, in 2025 he signed with Carosello Records to release his fifth album, Five Eggs. Conceived as an egg-record, a symbol of birth and the fragility of life, the work presents Dumbo Gets Mad as an observer of the contemporary world, transforming experiences, ideas and sensations into a personal and psychedelic sonic journey.
