For this first edition, SAISOUNDS, Somali DJ and producer pioneering Somali house, takes us on a journey — through the Somali songs of her childhood, the records her mother played, all the way to house music. Fusing the sounds of her heritage with the energy of UK club culture, her work isn’t about preserving Somali music in one fixed form — it’s about letting it evolve. This event is shaped and carried by the films of Wasima Farah, a somalian filmmaker and graphic designer exploring 2000s nostalgia among young Somali women.

My family archive is produced by Iman Ahmed, extending the release of her novel “Abdallah Superstar” (Actes Sud). By digging through her father’s YouTube channel of 2000s Djiboutian pop, she explores the concept of family archive.
