Festival de Jazz de Barcelona 2026: Ibrahim Maalouf

**IBRAHIM MAALOUF – The Trumpets of Michel-Ange (T.O.M.A)**

“Una gran aventura que nos lleva a un mundo donde el folclore y la modernidad se convierten en una sola cosa.” This is how the promotional material defines the second volume of trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf's new project, *The Trumpets of Michel-Ange* (T.O.M.A). Sophisticated yet accessible music, the press release goes on to explain, ultimately defining it as “a true blend of influences where a festive and nostalgic Orient is expressed with exceptional freedom.” T.O.M.A, which is also the name of Ibrahim Maalouf's new line of trumpets—designed by himself—represents a sort of tribute by Maalouf to his own life (born in Lebanon and raised in France, where he is now a star far beyond the world of jazz) and to the figure of his father, a trumpeter and the inventor of the instrument Maalouf now champions (a microtonal or quarter-tone trumpet). A high-impact debut at our festival: T.O.M.A, according to those who have seen this show live, is a party, an invitation to share, to vibrate together without restraint around a joyful and vital celebration.
