The story
Fink will return for two French dates on October 31st at the Transbo Club in Lyon and November 10th at the Élysée Montmartre in Paris to present his ninth studio album, “The City is Coming to Erase It All”.
Fink's story used to be summed up like this: Fin Greenall started as a DJ, wrote songs with Amy Winehouse, eventually became the first singer-songwriter signed by the legendary electronic label Ninja Tune, and then became Cornwall's second best-selling artist. But today, that version obscures the main point. Today, with his ninth album, Fink joins the lineage of authentic and quietly revolutionary artists like Michael Chapman.
“The City Is Coming to Erase It All” is Fink's ninth studio album, following 2024's “Beauty In Your Wake”. The album was made with a very specific vision for its era. It's about imagining a record that Michael Chapman could have recorded, right down to the choice of guitar strings. It is the fruit of a thirst for discovery and an idolatry of the album as a form, just as it was in 1974. The cover of City reflects its contents, the first song is the introduction, the final instrumental song is the conclusion. It's a story. It's an album meant for people who, like its creators, are curious.
