Inner_Spaces BEN FROST, SYNTAX ENSEMBLE

New residency work by Ben Frost, an artist who has pushed electronic music into territories of extreme intensity. His compositions transform electronic matter, noise, feedback, and physical dynamics into an immersive experience that engages the body even before analysis. The Australian musician often works on violent contrasts, on densities that expand and collapse, and on a sonic dramaturgy that challenges the boundary between experimental music, sound design, and sensory perception. His presence in the season represents the exact opposite of Pärt's ascetic concentration: a portrait of Ben Frost built not on subtraction, but on tension.

The Syntax Ensemble, an Italian formation dedicated to contemporary music, tackles two authors with works written over the last twenty years. On one side is Steve Reich, with his conception of time based on repetition, minimal deviation, and the perception of change as an emergent phenomenon: music that does not progress through thematic development, but through slow and hypnotic transformations. On the other side is Ivan Fedele, who works with a complex writing style where formal construction and timbral research intertwine in a constant balance. His works explore spatiality, micro-variation, and the tension between gesture and structure.
