Hailing from Lower Addiscombe, Croydon, LA Slim is a multi-faceted vocalist with a strong desire to reinvent perceptions of how a young black male artist from the UK should sound like. His soothing emotive harmonies are reminiscent of Sampha & just like the Mercury Prize Winner, LA very much places his upbringing and environment at the core of everything he does. His emotive yet soothing vocals & lyrical content contrast with his more gritty upbringing & character. Contrary to many of his peers, LA sheds boastful proclamations & macho swagger for vulnerability & transparency in his music.
