The story
**Nani Cortés** is one of those voices that cannot be explained, only felt. A cante full of truth, soul ("pellizco"), and a way of conveying emotion that hits you straight and unfiltered. Born in Andújar (Jaén), he grew up in the heart of one of the deepest families of southern arte jondo.
Brother to Lin Cortés and nephew of the legendary cantaor El Pele, Nani grew up listening to the compás from the inside, in an environment where flamenco is not studied: it is breathed.
From a very young age, he showed a natural connection to cante. By the age of six, he was already taking part in private gatherings within the artistic circle, and by eight, he was singing in front of Paco Valdepeñas, Terremoto, El Chino, and none other than Camarón de la Isla, who were moved upon hearing such a privileged voice coming from a kid. You could already tell back then that the boy was going to make waves.
Over time, Nani Cortés has established himself as one of the most respected voices in contemporary flamenco, with a cante full of soul, roots, and its own identity. He has shared the stage and studio with artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Enrique Morente, Vicente Amigo, Raimundo Amador, Rosario Flores, María Toledo, Antonio Carmona, and Rosalía, among others.
Highlights of his discography include his debut album, produced alongside his brother Lin Cortés, and especially “*Nadie me conoce*,” a project in which he lays his soul bare with a freer, more personal cante. Tracks like *Como antes, Alegre vengo, Ley de vida* or *Te camelo* have connected with audiences and remain very much present in his repertoire.
In his recent trajectory, he released the single “***Todo Es Mentira***,” opening a new creative phase, and is already working on upcoming releases to be announced in the coming months.
**On November 21st at Sala 2 of Apolo Sala Apolo**, Barcelona will be the setting for his concert: a night of cante, emotion, and great artistry featuring one of the most genuine voices in modern flamenco.
