For over twenty-five years, we have been hearing the sound of their voices. Jacky and Ben-J, childhood friends—one originally from Cape Verde, the other from the Congo—grew up in the Parisian suburbs in Garges-les-Gonesse (95).

In the early 1990s, around the age of 13, they tried their hand at music, inspired by their elders Ministère A.M.E.R (Stomy and Passi), Deenastyle on Radio Nova, and Rapline on M6. Their lyrics were politically charged, much like the American hip-hop scene with the group Public Enemy, not to mention that the apartheid policy in South Africa left them far from indifferent.

"We talked about our lives. We were proud of our Afro identity. We also talked about politics, the repressive system, police brutality." Their stage name reflects this spirit of revolt.

Extremely influential since the late 90s, authors of numerous classics, and politically engaged artists, Nèg' Marrons embody festive and inspiring music. Revealed by the single "La Monnaie," the theme song of the film Raï in 1995, they subsequently landed a deal with major label Sony Music.

Prominent artistic personalities representing the reggae branch of the Secteur Ä collective, they achieved unprecedented success with their debut album, "Rue case nègre," which went gold upon its release in 1997.

Following that, the two partners expanded their activities as producers by setting up the "Première Classe" label (PC1, PC2, Pit Baccardi, Tandem, Jalane...), hosting the radio show "Couvre feu" on Skyrock hosted by Jacky Brown, and joining the multi-gold-certified collective "Bisso na Bisso," of which Ben-J is a member.

From reggae to hip-hop, and featuring the most famous collaborations (Wyclef Jean, Cesaria Evora, Tonton David, Amadou and Mariam, Alpha Blondy...), the best of their repertoire boasts numerous gold and platinum certifications.

They are returning this year with a new project, heralded by the release of "Un peu de temps" last March. A long-awaited comeback, accompanied by a nationwide tour across France.
