OMAR SOULEYMAN
A Syrian singer who has become a global electronic music icon, Omar Souleyman blends dabke tradition with synthesizers, keyboards, and techno beats.
After starting his career as a wedding singer and releasing hundreds of live recordings, he has collaborated with figures such as Björk, Four Tet, Gilles Peterson, and Modeselektor, bringing his sound to stages all over the world.
In his fifth studio album, Erbil, he pays tribute to the Iraqi city that offered him refuge during a period of instability. Eight joyful, forward-looking tracks, created once again alongside longtime keyboardist Hasan Jamo Alo.
