On Saturday, August 22, @bateauphare welcomes one of the most fascinating artists on the global latin scene: Gia Fu, DJ, producer, and researcher from Hong Kong, for the very first French date of her career. 🌏🔥

Her story begins… in front of a movie. While rediscovering Wong Kar-wai's soundtracks — those boleros and latin sounds slipped into In the Mood for Love and Happy Together — Gia Fu is struck by a dizzying thought: why does this Cuban music resonate so much in Hong Kong? She learns Spanish, traces the thread of history, and brings Canton Mambo 曼波 to life. 🎶

Canton Mambo is her universe: a bridge between her Cantonese heritage and afro-latin rhythms. Salsa, mambo, cha-cha-cha, bolero — blended with Chinese sounds and the guzheng, her traditional instrument. A rare, erudite, and deeply danceable reinterpretation of latin music. 💃

The artist who set Clockenflap on fire, played for the Latin Grammys, and sold out shows across the United States and Mexico is finally setting down her vinyl records in Paris. Alongside her is El Dany, a figure of the Parisian latin scene and resident of La Rumba at Cabaret Sauvage, to keep the dance floor going until the end of the night. 🕺
