After more than 300 concerts, the band TRANS KABAR is getting a new lease of life to fan the embers of electrified Reunionese kabars by welcoming David Doris on vocals and kayamb, a roots voice coming straight from Reunionese kabars, and Clémence Gaudin on double bass. Stéphane Hoareau is still directing and on guitar, and Ianik Tallet is on drums. TRANS KABAR draws inspiration from the Servis Kabaré, a festive ceremony rooted in slave rituals designed to commune with ancestors through music, song, and dance. Often rejected, forbidden, almost forgotten, this rite has survived underground. TRANS KABAR is bringing it back to life. Spontaneous and hyper-creative, the four artists leave ample room for improvisation. Sculpted maloya rock rhythms that plunge into the laments of an island blues.
