FRIDAY RITUALS: Yemanjo

This Friday at TEJÁ house, we welcome Yemanjo, the project of producer, DJ and musician Ben Harris, to Lisbon. Born into the musical culture of California's Bay Area and shaped by travels through Latin America, the Middle East and beyond, Yemanjo crafts "Borderless Beats," multicultural music that breaks down the barriers dividing us and celebrates the diversity of human expression through sound.

His sound is a dynamic fusion of downtempo and organic house with exotic textures from Latin America, Africa and the Middle East. Collaborating with musicians and singers from Mali to Colombia, Morocco to Brazil, he weaves modernity and tradition into something one of a kind. Expect all-original music, harmonized vocals with Venezuelan singer Irene Rosalia, and his signature live trumpet and percussion.

With releases on respected imprints like Shika Shika, Sol Selectas and Wonderwheel Recordings, Yemanjo sits at the forefront of the global organic/electronic scene.
