The story
Rap Chanson Pop Spoken Word Doors open: 7:30 PM / opening act starts: 8:00 PM
“Marcel” is a seismic album, an intimate detonation where Wallace Cleaver translates the simultaneous blossoming of musical achievement and personal incompleteness. The artist does not restrict himself to rap influences, already oscillating within the genre across all its subgenres and rhythms; he also explores the fields of chanson, pop, and spoken word when necessity calls upon him. Wallace Cleaver is accompanied by the music of his partner PR, a pianist whose sounds are at times dreamy and airy, yet heavy and brutal when urgency needs to be expressed. It is a record shaped by the passing of time; the time that gives life, when his niece is born, and the time that fades away, when he says goodbye to his grandfather, finally closing the chapter of grief begun on Merci. In Marcel, there is the poetic translation of a generational loop: someone leaves, someone arrives, and at the center is Wallace, recounting the fragile role of a man growing up between the two. Marcel marks the album of emergence. The one where Wallace fully asserts himself, where his artistic identity finally appears in its definitive form, the result of a decade of research, doubt, and reconstruction. His writing, his voice, his universe, everything converges. The music bears witness to his experience in rap, but also to his trials as a man: son, uncle, grandson, friend, artist. Marcel is a mirror held up to oneself, a snapshot of the moment one stands, wobbling yet proud, facing the work of art one is becoming. © Asterios
