The story
With influences ranging from post-punk to shoegaze, passing through 1970s and 1980s indie rock, World News has built a distinct sonic identity based on atmospheric guitars, magnetic melodies, and an energy that is as melancholic as it is vibrant. Their sound evokes classic references from the British scene while maintaining a personal and contemporary voice.
The band debuted during the lockdown with the EP Job and Money, beginning an independent journey that allowed them to consolidate a loyal following and an increasingly defined artistic vision. The year 2024 marked a turning point with the release of the EPs Escape and Mindsnap, works that expanded their impact within the alternative scene.
In 2025, the singles “Don’t Want to Know” and “Everything Is Coming Up Roses” received high critical acclaim, while “The Tinman” became an unexpected viral phenomenon, entering the global top 10 on viral charts and accumulating millions of streams. This momentum culminated in a sold-out UK tour.
In 2026, World News continues its ascent with sold-out shows in the UK and Europe while preparing its eagerly awaited debut album. Media outlets such as Rolling Stone UK, Stereogum, Far Out Magazine, and Clunk Magazine have highlighted their potential, even defining them as one of London's most promising new bands.
