Born between Paris and Rennes, the duo Berne Evol / Brice Delourmel (FTR, Dead. / Giirls) stretches the horizons of cold wave and post-punk toward more industrial, more visceral textures, at the heart of a haunting romantic chaos. Pounding rhythms going full throttle, approaching a sublime soundtrack of despair, foggy, synthetic, and dense all at once, capable of enveloping the audience in gothic guitars with the taste of steel."

Canal Froid is a French solo project created in 2024 moving between post-punk and dark wave. In terms of instrumentation, we're looking at tribal drums, deep basslines, guitars that alternate between crystalline and saturated (leaning towards shoegaze), all wrapped in synths with poignant dissonances. The lyrics (few in number) appear as mantras and mostly deal with the difficulty of feeling left out, of not always fitting the norm, and a certain refusal of conformity. You can easily sense that for Canal Froid, the music has just as much to say (if not more) than the words, ultimately. The polished production reminds us that we are in 2025 with a current sound and background. Melancholy and introspection permeate every track while avoiding the clichés of the genre. And one can guess that coldness and tension perfectly sum up the artist's feeling toward the world and human relations in our era. That's how Canal Froid manages to pay a true tribute to the 80s cold wave movement without ever copying, sweeping away any nostalgic warmed-over retreads.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🔹 KONSTROY (post-punk, darkwave, ebm dj set /FR) DJ since 1999 and father of the Toulouse festival "Setmana Santa", Konstroy dusts off the gothic genre through his mixes and selections of post-punk, darkwave, and dark electronics. With carefully chosen tracks signed by talented artists, the southern DJ combines cold eclecticism and viral melodies with a decidedly dancefloor-oriented energy without ever sinking into all-out techno. Konstroy brilliantly illustrates a wave scene that is finally freeing itself from its peers, revealing beneath the faded veil of an old Victorian ghost, an Adamantium skeleton.
