Robert van Hemert

Robert van Hemert (Leiden, March 15, 1993) is a Dutch singer who gained fame through his participation in various music competitions. Van Hemert started singing in his youth and grew up with the music of André Hazes and Willeke Alberti, among others. He is an uncle of Mart Hoogkamer and before he broke through as a singer his main profession was house painter. The singer won the Leiden Festival of the Levenslied in 2017, where he convinced the jury with his rendition of De Clown by Ben Cramer. During this performance, he asked his girlfriend to marry him on the stage of the Leidse Schouwburg. National fame followed in July 2022 by winning the SBS6 talent show De Hollandse Nieuwe, presented by Jeroen van der Boom. As the winner, he performed at Toppers in Concert in the Johan Cruijff ArenA on December 18 and 19, 2022. With the single Zoet, Zout, Zuur, released in 2023, he achieved a major hit in the Netherlands in 2024. The song was streamed more than 8.5 million times on Spotify and was selected by Radio 538 as a Smulschijf. This hit ensured the breakthrough in his career. On May 22, 2024, he received a Gold Record for his hit in the program De Oranjezomer. On May 20, 2025, Van Hemert received a Diamond award for 50,000 streams during recordings for Muziekfeest op het plein. In 2025, Van Hemert could be seen as a guest artist in the television program Het Holland Huis. On July 1, 2025, Van Hemert was allowed to receive a gold record in the program Shownieuws for 10,000 streams of his song Mona Lisa.
