Alash Ensemble is a trio of Tuvan throat singing (xöömei) masters, an extraordinary technique for singing multiple notes simultaneously. What sets this band apart from previous generations of Tuvan throat singers is the subtle infusion of modern influences into their traditional music. In Alash's sound, you can find complex harmonies, Western instruments, and contemporary song forms, but its overall sound and spirit remain distinctly Tuvan. Alash love collaborating with musicians of all genres, as demonstrated by their six albums to date. Ever since their first collaboration with the legendary Sun Ra Arkestra, they have joined forces with artists from every background, ranging from country to classical music, and from jazz to beatboxing.
