The story
Alexis Muratti, a self-taught newcomer to French chanson, grew up in Toulouse in a household ringing with melodies and refrains—those of Marc Lavoine courtesy of his father, Julien Clerc for his mother, and Michel Legrand or Aaron among his siblings. Alexis started writing as a teenager but initially chose the path of rap. From then on, a keen sense of rhythm and the right word never left him. He later moved to Barcelona and then to Paris, arriving in Montmartre in 2017. The revelation came with the discovery of Serge Gainsbourg's famous "La Javanaise," which inspired him to refine his writing, playing with alliteration and euphony—that harmonious combination of words that now distinguishes his writing style. The turning point came in 2019 when one of his songs, "45 tours," was performed by a young artist, Elle & Lui. To everyone's surprise, the producers decided to keep his voice, turning the song into an electro-pop duet that enjoyed considerable success on stations like Virgin Radio and RTL 2. Alexis, who discovered he could sing, defines himself above all as a writer and lyricist. Among his reference figures, he naturally counts Gainsbourg—"but not Gainsbarre," he specifies. As for song-writing, he appreciates the pen of Benjamin Biolay, Christophe from the album "Aimer ce que nous sommes," Daho from "Blitz," not to mention Mylène Farmer, who has that elegant way of recounting life's dramas, and transitioning within the same sentence from a smile to dizziness, from the lighthearted to the serious.
