The story
Baptiste Sartoria, a rock dandy drawing inspiration from the great French chanson tradition of Alain Bashung and Etienne Daho, as well as the ringing guitars of The Strokes, Pixies, and Interpol.
He loves playing with words to write dark, elegant lyrics that he blends with his powerful voice, giving him a vocal signature and a unique touch.
Thirsting for freedom with a heavy heart, Baptiste asserts the need to break free from his chains while digging into his repressed emotions. He loves playing with words to write dark and elegant lyrics that he blends with his powerful and sensitive voice, a vocal signature and a unique touch. He refuses to forbid himself anything. To be timeless, enduring over time.
Following a first single released in March 2024 at the behest of his record label, he now asserts his own artistic vision, notably through a collaboration with Johnny Hostile (Nick Cave, Lescop, Izia, Etienne Daho…).
He talks about Interpol, Bashung, Joy Division, Étienne Daho, The Cure, Nick Cave, J. Brel, Tom Waits, Christine and the Queens, always with the same excitement. His record collection reflects who he is: open-minded, unfiltered, refusing boxes and limitations, vibrating far away from fashion and clichés. It is unpredictable, bold.
