Festival de Marne : Mathilde Fernandez

Mathilde Fernandez comes from a background in both performing and visual arts. It was by exploring the diverse possibilities of her voice that her musical project began in 2015 with her acclaimed debut EP “Live à Las Vegas”. Today, in both electronic and acoustic settings, one finds in her voice (and aesthetic) strong lyrical influences reminiscent of Klaus Nomi, Nina Hagen, Kate Bush and Diamanda Galas.

Directing her own production and the creation of her music videos and visuals, Mathilde subsequently released “Hyperstition” in 2018, “Final Vegas” in 2020 and “Sensible” in 2021.

She enriches her baroque universe through collaborations with: Christophe, Simone Ringer, Cécile di Gxiovanni, La Tendre Emeute, Perez, La Femme and, more recently, the duo ascendant vierge which she forms with Paul Seul, founding member of the Casual Gabberz crew.

Between 2019 and 2024, they released three self-produced albums including “Une Nouvelle Chance” and “Le Plus Grand Spectacle de La Terre”, distributed by Epic, Sony.

Breaking down the barriers that can exist between various disciplines is a necessity for her, leading her to radically mix different mediums: performance, sound, music, video, installation, theatre, dance, writing and exhibition curation. Lives and works in Brussels.
