Objekt é o nome artístico de TJ Hertz, produtor e DJ residente em Berlim. Nascido em Tóquio, filho de pais britânico-americanos e filipinos, Hertz cresceu na Bélgica e no Reino Unido antes de se estabelecer em Berlim, em 2009. Começou por dar nas vistas com uma série de discos de clube marcantes, iniciada com os 12” Objekt #1 e Objekt #2, editados de forma independente em 2011. Seguiram-se remisturas para Radiohead e SBTRKT, bem como edições em editoras de música de dança influentes, como a Hessle Audio. O seu trabalho enquanto produtor rapidamente conquistou aclamação da crítica e o apoio de nomes como Aphex Twin e Autechre.

Objekt construiu uma reputação como um dos DJs incontornáveis da sua geração. Eleito DJ do Ano pela Mixmag em 2018, sente-se tão à vontade em grandes tendas de festivais como em caves exíguas e escaldantes. O seu estilo de DJing combina irreverência e precisão absoluta, recorrendo a uma técnica de mistura altamente apurada de forma dinâmica e expressiva, sem se prender a géneros ou BPM, deixando-se guiar pela espontaneidade e pela energia do público. As atuações de Hertz são imprevisíveis: numa noite pode atravessar meia dúzia de géneros musicais em busca de uma atmosfera de festa desenfreada; noutra, pode conduzir o público por um desconcertante túnel psicadélico. Objekt is TJ Hertz, a producer and DJ living in Berlin. Born in Tokyo to British-American and Filipino parents, Hertz grew up in Belgium and the UK before settling in Berlin in 2009. He first became known for head-turning club records, beginning with the self-released stamped whitelabel 12”s Objekt #1 and #2 in 2011, and following these up with remixes for Radiohead and SBTRKT and releases on influential dance music labels such as Hessle Audio. His club output quickly garnered critical acclaim and support from the likes of Aphex Twin and Autechre.

Objekt has built a reputation as one of the must-see DJs of his generation. Selected as Mixmag’s DJ of the Year in 2018, he thrives in festival tents and sweatbox basements alike. His DJing style is equal parts wild and laser-focused, employing a precise and highly technical mixing style in a dynamic and expressive way, while paying little heed to genre or BPM and feeding off spontaneity and crowd energy. Hertz’s DJing is unpredictable: one night he might duck and dive through half a dozen genres in pursuit of an unhinged party atmosphere. Another night he might guide you by the hand through a bewildering psychedelic wormhole. It’s these qualities that make his recorded sets so beloved.
