Rencontre avec Victorien Bornéat

Before becoming a cultural advisor within a major local authority, Victorien Bornéat grew up near Oyonnax and experienced "cultural exclusion" upon his arrival in Lyon, at the Opera ticket counter where he didn't know the social codes. In Cultural Exclusion, a manifesto for a popular backlash, he analyzes the mechanisms of a culture that is too often exclusionary, elitist, and arrogant, having lost popular support, and whose budget cuts no longer move very many people... "Culture has become an ideological battlefield, but no longer really a matter of public policy," he laments. He advocates for a culture accessible to all, based on hybrid creations (such as Aya Nakamura's performance at the Paris Olympics), citizen participation, and the emergence of what he calls a "new popular movement." His short, hard-hitting book contains stimulating analyses and proposals. Published in paperback by the courageous independent publishing house Éditions du Faubourg, it should be added to the curriculum for cultural professions training!
