In Chicago, catharsis happens by shouting over electroclash
The Chicago trio Pixel Grip is not really here to lull our algorithm-numbed ears as much as to examine the shadows located between frontal EBM and darkwave hemispheres. With staggering energy and a slightly clownish flair—like Lady Gaga and Peaches if they had listened to DJ Hell way too much—the music brewed by Rita Lukea feels like a call to oblique dissidence against good taste and all other forms of alienation.
